Aha Moment....

Aha!

Having an Aha moment does not always have to be this profound discovery, sometimes, it can be the smallest little discovery or change in your normal thought process that can be an Aha moment.

It was just that for me, I was standing in my kitchen preparing breakfast, I had made myself a cup of coffee, added my cream. Next, I made eggs and bacon and lastly, I decided that I would also like cheese toast. If you are not familiar with cheese toast, it is the technique of preparing toast in the oven and then you add butter and a slice of cheese on top, instead of having toast that some others add jelly or jam.

As I was preparing my cheese toast, I removed the bread that I was going to make, proceeding to grab the butter from the fridge and then, as I have always done, I took a small amount of butter and placed it in one corner of the bread, took another and placed it in the other corner and then all of a sudden, something in my mind clicked and I asked myself, why do I also put the butter on in each corner of the bread, why have I never spread the butter all over the entire slice or created some other pattern with the butter. As silly as that question may seem, it brought me to think a little deeper about the question and the reason behind the question.

And there it was, just one of the many Aha moments that was not anything huge, however, important to ignite some very important, self-evaluating questions.

While I gave thought to this question, of why did I always butter the bread in this fashion, I came to the conclusion that I did this because, it is what I always saw my mother do, that is the way that she made our toast so as I became an adult and prepared my own or even made toast for my children, I automatically mimicked what I had always seen done without even consciously giving it any thought.

This epiphany forced me to look a little deeper into myself and think about how many other things that I have “just did” because that is what I have always seen done around me. From my mother, Grandmothers, Aunts, and even friends that all have an influence on the person that you become whether it be good or not so ideal.

Aha! As responsible adults, we owe it to ourselves to reevaluate yourself and things that you have always done or always seen done and make that conscious decision to say, “not me” “not that way” I DO NOT have to be a product of what I have always seen, if it does not benefit me in a positive way or in a way that I would like to see for my future.

It is never too late to make beneficial changes that are conducive of what you want for your life.

Aha!
